4 london-based workouts to try this May

As those of you residing in the Capital will know, living in a city the size of London has some real pros and cons. There’s the sweltering heat of a jam-packed London Underground train in the Summer months, the swarms of shoppers descending on Oxford Street day in, day out, and not forgetting the god-awful traffic. Yet for all its little downfalls, the sheer variety and beauty in both its urban and green spaces make this the greatest city in the world for fitness freaks like us! Whether you’re new to the Capital or just looking to shake up your workout regime – give these four workouts a go this month…

HIIT on Primrose Hill

We sang HIIT’s praises in one of our recent blog posts, and once you’ve read up on this highly effective form of working out we’d suggest taking this new-found knowledge over to North London’s Primrose Hill. Its deceivingly steep incline makes for the perfect natural apparatus to practice a little up-hill interval sprinting; and what better way to reward your hard work than with a stunning view over the city’s skyline.

Yoga On Hampstead Heath

There are few places in the capital to take that yoga mat as quaint and leafy as Hampstead Heath. We’d suggest heading up there with some friends and discover the beauty of a group outdoor yoga session in all its glory. Time this right and you’ll be mastering those positions alongside one of London’s greatest sunrise views. Yoga will never be the same again!

Swimming in The Serpentine

An activity that should be on every Londoner’s bucket list – outdoor swimming. Now, the Great British weather is famously unreliable, but it’s always best to have that swimming costume on standby should the time come to take the plunge. The Serpentine Lido is one of the nicest and safest ways to swim in the Thames, serving up the perfect opportunity for a group swimming session. Look out for a little blog post in June on London’s best outdoor swimming spots!

Running in The Royal Parks

Whilst running all of London’s Royal Parks in one go may be a little ambitious, there’s a 10km(ish) route that’ll take you around four of London’s best that we’d highly recommend. This scenic jog will lead you through Hyde Park, Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens, passing a number of the Capitals most recognisable landmarks as you go. The perfect combination of sight seeing and exercising!

Try these for yourself this May, and as always, stay fit and healthy!
