Are you partying or training for St Patricks Day?

If there ever was proof that us Londoners will take any excuse for a good old knees up, it’s the festivities surrounding St Patrick’s Day. Come March 17th, swathes of punters will fill the capital’s bars, Irish or not, in celebration of everyone’s favourite patron saint. For those of you who’re perhaps looking to celebrate in a more sober manor, we’ve compiled the perfect Paddy’s Day playlist, featuring some of our favourite Irish workout tunes. Sláinte!

Thin Lizzy – The Boys Are Back In Town

This classic from Phil Lynott and the boys is the ultimate way to kick off a workout session of any variety. The one downside is a slightly off-putting urge to break out the old air guitar.

U2 – Beautiful Day

As we slowly ease our way out of the cold Winter months and into the loving arms of Springtime, there’s no better way to really appreciate the return of the sun than by jogging through one of London’s many parks with this anthem going off in your ears.

The Dubliners ft. The Pogues – Irish Rover

A tune known for causing absolute chaos in Irish bars throughout the capital, particularly on Paddy’s Night. Save these three minutes of pure Irish mayhem for when you need it most.

The Corrs – Breathless

A great song and a potentially appropriate title depending on which stage of your workout you’re at when this track makes its appearance.

Westlife – When You’re Looking Like That

Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that the boys in Westlife put out a fair few bangers in their time. This number is especially great for anything that requires an abundance of enthusiasm and reckless abandon. It was either this or Boyzone…

The Undertones – Teenage Kicks

Yes, they’re Irish. You’ll no doubt be familiar with this wedding/birthday/school disco staple, but did you know it also makes for a great workout track? Perhaps more suited to HIIT than an afternoon Yoga session but a great tune nonetheless.

Snow Patrol – Run

Irish? Check. Gives workout instruction in song title? Check. That’ll do.

Van Morrison – Brown Eyed Girl

It wouldn’t be Paddy’s day without a sing song with Van the Man. Stick this on at the end of your workout to make sure you finish up on a high, particularly if you’re working out as part of a group.

Be sure to follow the playlist on Spotify for your Paddy’s Day workout and, as always, stay fit and healthy!
